The court has ordered the seizure of 4 flats and 866 percent of land of National Board of Revenue (NBR) member Matiur Rahman, who is involved in the goat scandal.

On Thursday (July 4), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain's court gave this order in view of ACC's application.

ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali Salam gave this information. Deputy Director Anwar Hossain made this request on behalf of the ACC.

It is said in the application, it is known from reliable sources that the complaint is related to Md. Matiur Rahman and his family members are trying to hand over the immovable property owned by them, which will fail all the objectives including filing the case, filing the charge sheet in the court, confiscating the property acquired from the proceeds of crime in favor of the government as part of the sentence after the trial by the court. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to seize the immovable property in the interest of fair investigation and establishment of justice to facilitate the confiscation of the property in favor of the government after the trial by the court after the completion of the investigation and the filing of the charge sheet in the court.

Prior to this, last Tuesday (July 2) in a press conference at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office, Khorsheda Yasmin, secretary of the organization, said that notices have been given to Matiur Rahman and his two wives and children for accounting statements of assets other than known income. It has been asked to give this account within 21 working days.

Apart from Matiur, the rest are - Matiur's first wife Laila Kaniz, son Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman Arnab, daughter Farzana Rahman Ispita and second wife Shammi Akhter Shibli.

It should be noted that before Eidul Azhar, a video of Motiur Rahman's son Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat buying a goat for Tk 15 lakh went viral on social media. It is in this context that allegations of corruption were raised against this officer of NBR.
